I think this is all really good advice! I think one more thing from a supervisor perspective is that what we are hoping will happen is that the student takes ownership of the PhD in some sense. Sometimes this happens straight away, sometimes it takes longer (or doesn't happen at all!). But an easy way to start towards this can be for the student to take charge of the timing of meetings - to be the person who gets a regular slot booked in everyone's calendar, be the person who updates that when one or more people are away and so on. And then that can build out into starting to set the agenda for the meeting (what to discuss, future directions, is this a regular catchup or a more strategic planning discussion) as time goes on.
